Our Sta. Rita Hills vineyards are known for their rocky terrain and super steep slopes. This cool–climate area, is heavily influenced by the proximity of the Pacific Ocean and is known for producing world-class Pinot Noir. The east-west aspect of the Santa Rosa and Santa Rita Hills is ideal for allowing cool ocean fog to flow through the Santa Ynez River Valley. The soil is void of any nutrients and instead is chalky with marine and volcanic soils making the vines struggle to produce resulting in tiny intense clusters that produce wines with distinctive terroir driven flavor profiles unlike any other Pinot Noir. Our unique fermentation methods include whole berry in French Cooperage puncheons, and a percentage of whole berry and whole cluster fermentations in Stainless tanks which adds further complexity to the wines.
